RUG PRODUCT CAREWelcome to the elite. You have chosen the highest‐quality hand loomed Tibetan rug available. Power of Home has a few suggestions for maintaining and cleaning your rug, but the most important thing to remember is to regularly step back and take in the ancient craftsmanship and beauty that an Power of Home rug brings into your home. Power of Home rugs are made of Himalayan sheep wool and pure silk. Himalayan sheep wool is astoundingly resilient and easy to maintain. By following some simple care instructions you can ensure your rug remains a long lasting family heirloom for generations to come.
MAINTENANCE & PROTECTIONRotate your Power of Home rug every once and awhile. In time, regular foot traffic or sunlight can cause fading or uneven wear. Rotation will allow your rug to maintain the same luster it did on the first day it arrived to your home. Regular vacuuming is the best way to remove the dirt and dust from everyday traffic. Power of Home suggests special care be taken towards the edges of the rug when vacuuming to ensure that there is no accidental pulling which could cause the knots to separate from the base. During the first year your new rug is in your home, Power of Home strongly suggests vacuuming at least twice a week to remove the loose wool which naturally develops on the rug’s surface. Do not be alarmed by your rug “shedding” as it is a perfectly natural element of the hand weaving process utilized in Tibet. After the first year, Power of Home suggests vacuuming as frequently as is commensurate with the foot traffic on your rug. Ultimately, vacuum sufficiently to keep any substances which could potentially soil your rug.
PROTECT AGAINST SPILLS & STAINSPower of Home’s handmade Tibetan rugs use an exclusive vegetable‐dye process that adds a layer of protection against wear and tear. Although spills and stains on your rug should be avoided as best as possible, they can in fact be dealt with if a situation does occur because of the vegetable‐dye. Regular spills can be treated with warm water and mild hand soap. Remember to always dab out the stain, never rub – rubbing can cause discoloration to the rug. For tougher stains such as wine, a teaspoon of white vinegar is recommended. Chemical cleaners should always be avoided.
PROFESSIONAL CLEANINGPower of Home suggests allowing only specialized professionals who have experience working with rugs of this quality when your rug requires any level of cleaning. Remember that under no circumstances should chemicals be utilized in the cleaning of your Power of Home rug.
